Mushroom Foraging Basics (Sandy,Or)

$80.00

Mushrooms are an excellent and abundant food source in the Pacific Northwest, but they can be deadly without proper identification and preparation.

FutureNature is hosting John Masser of Empire Of Dirt Mushrooms. Johns mushroom farm is nestled in the foothills of Mt. Hood near Estacada, Oregon. Owner and grower John is a long-time mushroom lover. Inspired by the wild mushrooms he foraged while wandering the woods, he decided to try his hand at cultivating some popular culinary varieties. Empire of Dirt strives to produce culinary mushrooms of exceptional quality for customers who really care about their ingredients.

During this class, you will learn :

  • How to Properly Identify edible mushrooms from poisonous ones

  • What times of year, the best habitats for certain species

  • Ethical gathering/harvesting

  • Using them in different recipes!

With Mushrooms, there is a risk. After five years of living here, I am not comfortable yet running a Mushroom class safely, and I will be taking the class right along with you!
