I learned on Tuesday afternoon that the latest shopping craze is "Giving Tuesday." I thought about my crowdfunding, which I typically mention but don't talk much about since I've been blessed with students and Photography work. Even though it was getting dark, I decided to assemble "the beast." The beast is my Nikon with a monitor attached so I can see what's being filmed, a Microphone Attached to the side, and then the field recorder, which is in my pocket with one of those little lapel mics. I went into the woods, set my camera down, pointed it up the trail, and started recording. It was the perfect time in the evening. The winter wrens were yelling at me and fitting all around me as I walked and talked towards the camera. They are one of my many favorite birds around here. So I came inside, quickly edited the video, and uploaded it. Then I wrote a short paragraph about how even though my business is improving, every little bit helps. I had no expectations. I was flabbergasted when I woke to see enough donations to put me well over the halfway mark! Today, I am filled with even more gratitude than normal, but the most important thing is I now have a nest egg, which means I don't have to run around like such a madman, slowly killing myself.
